This extreme roller-coaster is too much for me. I don't have the stomach or patience to ride. I like sitting in my home and just watching it. The degree of risk-taking is too scarey for me. I did read the independent signs earning small media note three months ago and tried to connect the dots, to see a pattern. I have no economic or even business sense / knowledge so it was only common sense.

If you bought stocks at their high point right before the crash of 1929, and held onto them until 1940, you made a fortune.

Panics suck - I'm watching my portfolio clog the financial toilet right now. But things will bounce back.

If they don't we'll have far bigger things to worry about than money.

I'm no financial expert but I'm certain people have made millions out of the panickers forcing down prices when they sold their stock, by buying them up in huge quantities dirt cheap.

If you miss the drop, you're too late. Hold onto what you've got until the next period of stability and then reassess the situation.

When it comes to old tried and true stocks (the majority of the ones people deal with, really), it's just good business in the stock market to buy what others have sold in a panic. Bad times for some, great times for others. It all depends on how easily-swayed you are, I suppose, and whether you're willing to give it a gamble. You can make a lot in these times, though, if you're wise.

(Then buy it back in a week.)

Feed the panic!

heh, seriously though, in a week or so I bet I can find some nice budget priced stocks to scoop up!

Chart at Google Finance.

The downturn is from many factors, the biggest (IMO) is the Fed cutting rates today by three quarters of a point.
