I've started a regular segment on my blog outlining what my favorite brands are and why. I'm starting it out with Trader Joe's and IN-N-OUT. You can read the blog post here.

Does anyone else love these two brands?

All I know is that I love no other burger like In-n-out. And no other grocery store like Trader Joe's.

I don't know that I really go for their "branding" per se, but I really like their products--if you can separate the two. In-n-out is really just the best burger all-around (so maybe you could argue that you can just spot an In-n-out anywhere in California and know you're going to get a good burger, so that in itself is a brand). Trader Joe's sells great organic food and even (some) healthy convenience foods at a reasonable price so that's why I like them.

In-n-out sucks. Last year when Paul and I were in SF, we walked across half the city to find an In-n-out burger and it ended up tasting exactly like Wendy's. If you guys want to know what a real burger tastes like, head to Five Guys.

Oh man. I seriously heart Five Guys, especially the cajun fries. Fortunately, I have the common sense not to go more often than once every month or two.

The most divisive reviews on HeatEatReview.com are often about Trader Joe's products.

Their sweet and spicy pecans could best be described as super-ultra-fantastical.

How dare you spout such blasphemy Mike!

Oh man. Five Guys vs. In-n-out. It's like the East Coast-West Coast burger war.

I have to try Five Guys now.

*looks for cheap plane ticket*

Having lived on the east coast and the west coast, I give Five Guys the win by a landslide. Their burgers are significantly better than the ones at In-N-Out, even if they don't have the fun ordering style and absolutely disgusting photos of people eating 100x100's.

I dislike In-n-Out, can't stand their burgers.

I love Trader Joe's and the products they offer, especially their organic foods.

I will definitely have to check out a Five Guys if I'm on the East Coast.
