I took this screenshot a few hours ago, but now the current temperature is at 104° with a high of 105° today, which means it hit 105 sometime this afternoon and is now on its way down.

Check out a news article on the heat.

Wow yep that is hot. I seem to not have the heat so much but we're invaded with damn flies. If I see one more pair of em trying to mate on my monitor I think I may have to buy a venus fly trap.

Downtown DC was ferocious I hear. I am lucky to have been able to work at home for two day plus tomorrow - due to the temperature.
They don't want dead people in the hallways of my building. A building which is currently having air conditioning problems due to the stress on the system.

It's 102 in Tulsa Oklahoma today too.
I feel sorry for the poor saps @ the PGA Tournament downtown today. Tiger was suckin for a bit around lunch time... went from 3 under after 6 to +1 after 17 according to the guy on the radio. Too hot?

Not too hot right now in Southern California. It's pretty much the same it's always been this time of year. Raleigh's got us beat by about 15 degrees F.

How's the humidity?

It's downright freezing here right now.

Comparatively that is.
We're also RIGHT in the middle of a thunderstorm. 83 is the coolest it's been here in a week at least.

A very typical british summer here. What heat wave ;)
@Oli: how I know that I had a little thunderfly set up home in my laptop - wasn't too upset as my windows one ;) He seemed to die off screen so yay. Last year the powerbook had one and I wasn't so happy about that. The worst is these damn bigger non-cute thunderflies that keep having an orgy around my desk - I must have a fly brothel sign up. Either that or one slapper of a fly in residence.

Wow you beat out Arizona for today, Mike! Congrats!
p.s. I don't think it'll make 105.

I'm in southern Ohio, and we peaked today at 106 Fahrenheit, with 90 or so percent humidity. :(
It's been bloody miserable here the past few days.

Wooo! For once, Arizona isn't the suckiest place on earth during summer! The Place Where Josh Lives seems much worse!

Go Oklahoma! You can add about 5-10 degrees with humidity.

This reminds me of a conversation last night regarding the US Open Series. The tournaments mostly take place during the most miserable months in the most miserably humid locations in America.
Today in DC we had some showers and it became wonderfully cool. Uh, 85 degrees F being wonderfully cool.
So, what do all of you do to cool down? I bought a box of $100 freeze pops for $3.00 and stashed them in my office freezer. Nothing lightens the office mood like 30 people eating freeze pops. I think we're doing root beer floats tomorrow.

#So, what do all of you do to cool down?
Lots and lots (and lots) of iced water. I've probably drank a gallon today, maybe even a bit more. I'll also occasionally head to the bathroom and splash cold water over my face and head. (It pays off to have a shaved head sometimes.)

Abi: When I lifeguarded, a team of 20 guards would go through several hundred freeze pops in 4 hours. One guy, who only ate the blue ones, claimed that he was peeing blue. The report was not verified, however.
Taking cold showers are wonderful. :)

Freezee Pops are VITAL to life in the summer.
I second the massive quantities of pops lifeguards will go through in the summers. Our poor little fridge was constantly being raided.
In the summer I eat very little. Stay inside as much as possible. go to movies (for the amusement and the icy conditions) when it gets too unbearable.
Though at present, I'm at a freezing 79 degrees. Let me find my parka. :D
Though it's supposed to be 103 today and 90 tomorrow. FUN!

It's winter here (aka "rainy season"), but the rains only last a few hours a day. I'd say life is comparatively good.

If you've lived here all your life it's fairly common and you're used to it.
I hail from SOUTH Texas and I'm used to 105+ temps. I worked construction on days with 115 degree heat indexes.
You just have to stay hydrated.

I lived in the high desert of CA before moving to where I now reside, and temperatures there were 113-115, and the heat would feel as if it was 118-120 degrees.
